Historic Denver Neighborhood of:

Montclair

Montclair Sign
The Montclair neighborhood is a quiet residential area comprised mostly of single family homes. The Montclair neighborhood was originally developed in the late 1800s as a small suburban community to attract wealthy residents. To ensure Montclair’s reputation as a prestigious place to live, the first houses built in the area were required to be built on double lots, they had to be at least 2 stories high and made of brick or stone.

These early building codes gave Montclair a tone of privacy and elegance that remains today. Those first turn-of-the-century homes are now part of a Historic District in the south east part of the neighborhood. The rest of the neighborhood still has a wealthy suburban feel with thick mature trees, wide sidewalks, lush landscaping and four small parks. Montclair is popular today because of it’s residential nature with little commercial development.
